Flying scholarships

The Trust will continue to contribute to the work of the Armstrong Isaacs Trust.  Its aim is to provide up to four flying scholarships every year. Read about our latest successful scholarship supported trainee, Amy Brekell, here.

Youth Air Experience Camps

Weekend camps at airfields which are organised by local LAA Struts working with Scouts, Air-Scouts and Air Cadets, for young people to experience aviation and achieve their aviation badges.

Build a Plane

Projects in which groups of (often disadvantaged) young people undertake the construction of an aircraft as a practical educational experience. There are currently three LAA Build-a-Plane projects, of which two are flying, and six RAeS/Boeing sponsored aircraft for which LAA members are involved as and mentors inspectors.

Preservation of at risk Historic Aircraft, artifacts and documents

LAAET has a remit to facilitate the conservation, care and operation of historic recreational aircraft, aircraft designs and artifacts. In this area we will work with specialist museums, collections and maintenance organisations to help preserve our UK heritage of amateur-built and other historic light aircraft. A fund will be developed to rescue historic aircraft at risk. The Educational Trust would purchase the aircraft and arrange for it to be cared for by members until a new owner can be found.  The fund needs to raise £30,000 to be fully affective.

The Trust is also preserving historical documents pertinent to the LAA, PFA and ULAA history.
